Medicine Wheel Apprenticeship - Starts April 18-20

Tawantinsuyu - Peruvian Medicine Wheel Apprenticeship

Six part series starts April 18-20

Eden Prairie, MN

Taught by Tina Shepherd, Allen Brown and Michelle Hutchins

This six part apprenticeship series will take place over a one year period meeting on average once every 2 months for a weekend intensive. The apprenticeship includes the cosmologies, healing techniques, ceremonies and rites of initiation of the Peruvian mountain and jungle people as well as practices from other shamanic traditions.

Tawantinsuyu is a Quechua term of the Qero people and means the four corners or directions. We will be using the Peruvian medicine wheel as a tool in order to heal ourselves and others as well as building a relationship with the spiritual world around us.

As we move thru the medicine wheel each student will be building a Mesa, a Peruvian shaman’s altar containing sacred stones that connect you with the personal, creative and cosmic energies of the universe and receive the rites of initiation (called Karpay’s) of the Andean medicine people of Peru.

We will be engaging the work thru various methods and ceremonies including fire ceremony, soul retrieval, healing techniques, journeying, despachos (sacred offerings), limpia (cleansing ceremony), divination, drumming and much more.

Part 1 - Introduction

This 1st weekend is an introduction to the path in order to give the student a solid base from which to start their journey. We will be teaching the basic beliefs and cosmology of the shaman and the energies of the Mesa, drumming and journeying to non-ordinary reality, creating sacred space, fire ceremony, the 3 energy centers, corn despacho and more.

Part 2 - Kollasuyu - South

As we begin our deep work in the South direction of the wheel we will start to build and develop our relationship with the Mesa. Students will engage in healing techniques that will help shed fear, suffering and emotional wounds. We will cover soul retrieval, corn despachos, healing mandalas, past lives and you will receive the rites of the Ayni Karpay and the Paqo Karpay

Part 3 - Kontisuyu - West

The work in the West is about transforming of our wounds into personal power. Moving beyond our past and calling forth our new possibilites. We will continue our journey with the Mesa, work with the energies of death and rebirth, plant medicines, limpias (cleansing ceremony), ceremonies and traditions of the Amazon, black despacho and receive the Pampamesayoq Karpay.

Part 4 - Chinchaysuyu - North

The North direction is about our ability to say yes to spirit and the gifts we can offer to the world. We will work with the wisdom of the ancestors, learn how to shift our view of reality thru perceptual shifts and energetic exercises that will expand the way we connect to our environment. Various types of divination will be explored, energy tracking, white despacho and individual fire ceremony. Students will also receive the initiation of the Altomesayoq Karpay.

Part 5 - Antisuyu - East

The East is the way of the visionary. Dreaming our world into being. Calling forth our destiny into the present moment. During the East work we will be working with the energies of creation, trust in the universe and ourselves, ceremony, star despacho and the great rites of passage. You will be initiated into the rites of the visionary, the Star Rites Karpay.

Part 6 - Chawpinsuyu - The Center

In this last part of our work we will bring the energies of all directions into our center, our balance point. We will explore the 3 worlds the Mesa, the left, right and the middle. Working with the living energy of the universe thru the Mesa, creating powerful and meaningful ceremonies and clearing negative energies from homes, land and people. We will bring all of the work over the past year into balance so the students may walk fully and confidently on their paths.

Cost: $240 per session.

Future dates to be decided by group consensus.
